Prime Minister Narendra Modi raised the intensity of his attack on the Congress government in poll-bound Karanataka on Monday, 19 February, at a massive rally in the heart of Mysuru.

Addressing a sea of supporters at Maharaja Grounds, many of whom were seen waving BJP’s flag as far as the eye could see, PM Modi criticised the government led by Siddaramaiah.

“Do you want a commission government or a mission government?” Modi said before a cheering crowd in a reference to the corruption charge he made against Siddaramaiah’s government.

Exhorting the gathering to vote out the Congress, Modi warned, “The longer this (Congress) government continues, the more destruction it will do to Karnataka.”

Reiterating that Siddaramaiah’s government was a “10 per cent commission government” – a charge he made during the rally at Bengaluru in January – Modi sarcastically said that many called him “angrily” and said that the percentage was even more.

As the crowd chanted “Modi-Modi”, the PM slammed the Congress rule at the Centre for most of the period since Independence.

“Congress has ruled the nation for about 70-80 per cent of the period from Independence. Today they are demanding facilities. Why did they not do anything during the 50 years of their rule?” he asked the supporters.

“Those who did not do anything for their 50 years, can they be trusted?” he asked as the crowd.

He claimed that the Congress government is only concerned about their chair and not Karnataka.

Accusing the party led by Rahul Gandhi of doing nothing in the country, Modi said that around 4 crore families are still without electricity because nothing was done for them in those 50 years.

“The BJP government at the Centre wants the nation to progress at a great speed but is hit by ‘bumpers’ in the form of Congress government in some states,” Modi said urging the people to bring youth, mothers, sisters, villagers, farmers and everyone else in Karnataka into the BJP fold.

Earlier today, the PM flagged off the Humsafar Express train from Mysuru to Udaipur in Rajasthan and attended the Bahubali Mahamasthakabhisheka Mahotsav at Shravanabelagola in Karnataka.
