Hamirpur MP Anurag Thakur on Friday criticised Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala for his statement on him and his father and former chief minister Prem Kumar Dhumal being on bail.

Thakur said during the past 5 years, Congress spent all their energy to somehow establish cases against him and his family. “Congress pressurised state Vigilance Department to file cases against me and my family. But all their efforts went in vain as they failed to establish even a single case against us and for that matter of fact any BJP leader,” he said.

He said many cases were registered against him, younger brother Arun Dhumal and Prem Kumar Dhumal. However, most of the cases after investigations were proved to be wrong and the High Court, in all such cases, have quashed them on merit.

“In one such case, the Vigilance department was forced to close it and filed cancellation report before the competent court,” he said, adding while the case against PK Dhumal was also finally closed on the orders of the Supreme Court.

This shows that there was no merit in the allegations of the Congress party and all the cases against us were politically motivated.

Thakur said when Congress leader could not establish any case against us, they took a concocted complaint from one advocate from Kangra about our properties and initiated inquiry against our family through Vigilance bureau. “They wrote to all the state governments asking for our property anywhere in the country, but nothing came out,” he said.

Even PK Dhumal himself had written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for initiating a CBI inquiry regarding the properties case along with the properties of all the Chief Ministers of Himachal Pradesh. “I have nothing to hide and details of all my properties are in the public domain, which is also available even now,” he said.
