Comedian Zakir Khan has stressed on the need for freedom of speech for comedians, and says people should support the art form.

“I think freedom of speech to a comedian should be equal to a politician. When it comes to clean and bad comedy, people don’t understand this about humour that it’s an emotion. If according to my life experience, I found something funny, it’s my perspective,” Zakir said in a statement.

“People can listen to it if they want to. Every art form is a reflection of the society. If any art form is crossing the line, one should check the society. If your comedy is not clean, understand that it’s the society that is not clean. No art form continues without the society,” he added.
