Bollywood celebrities are urging people to cast their vote in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter on Wednesday urging celebrities to encourage people to vote to ensure high voter turnout.

From Amitabh Bachchan, to Akshay Kumar, Alia Bhatt, Karan Johar, Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar, the call of action was given to all.

Indirectly quoting films like Ayushmann’s Dum Laga Ke Haisha and Akshay’s Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, the PM’s tweet went out to other celebs as well.

To Ranveer Singh, Vicky Kaushal and Varun Dhawan, he tweeted with reference to Gully Boy and Uri: “My young friends @RanveerOfficial, @Varun_dvn & @vickykaushal09, Many youngsters admire you. It is time to tell them: Apna Time Aa Gaya Hai and that it is time to turn up with high Josh to a voting centre near you.”

Some of the celebrities responded on Twitter.

Earlier, this week, actor Rajkummar Rao had also tweeted a video in which he said people could change the shape of the future by choosing the right people by voting.

“Voting gives us the power to choose who is going to run the country. There is no point complaining because it is us who have chosen them. Voting day is the only day when we are the most powerful. We can change the shape of our future by choosing the right people,” he said.

The Lok Sabha elections are scheduled to be held in seven phases from April 11 to May 19. Counting of votes will take place on May 23.
