Haryana additional chief secretary (home) SS Prasad on Wednesday asked the prisoners to make Yoga an integral part of their lives. He was addressing the prisoners after the launch of a Yoga training session organised in district Jail, Kurukshetra.

Addressing the gathering, he said that yoga is the only mechanism that can lead to mental and physical development of every person in the society. Keeping in view the number of prisoners involved in NDPS cases, he urged them not to be a part of any kind of addiction and drug peddling after getting out of the jail.

He also administered an oath to this effect to the prisoners. In addition, he also asked the jail authorities to conduct evening yoga sessions in the jails.

Speaking on this occasion, Director General (prisons) K Selvaraj made the prisoners aware of Yoga and said that yoga training programme has been launched in Jails with the assistance of Panchvati Yogashram and Nature Curator Center so that prisoners get the maximum benefit of yoga.

He also informed that yoga sessions are being carried out on a daily basis by the prisoners in all the jails of the state as it not only improves physical functioning but mental mechanism too. This also helps in changing the prisoner’s mindset.
