The tussle between the Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand governments over a hotel in Haridwar has finally ended. The Yogi Adityanath government has decided to give control of the Alaknanda hotel to Uttarakhand.
Alaknanda hotel, located in Haridwar, is under the control of UP Tourism Department. Even 18 years after bifurcation, the distribution of assets remains unsolved between the two states. After being voted to power Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat took keen interest in solving pending issues and met UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath several times. Rawat said, “In the assets distribution case the UP government has decided to officially hand over the Haridwar-based Alaknanda hotel to Uttarakhand. A praiseworthy step, I thank Chief Minister Yogi Adiyanath for the gesture.”

After the BJP came into power in U.P and Uttarakhand, efforts were made to break the deadlock. The UP Irrigation Department started the process by giving control of 28 minor canals to Uttarakhand. And now the Alaknanda Hotel development has thrilled the government in the hill state.

Uttarakhand is looking to solve the tussle over 13,000 hectares land, over 400 buildings, many canals and barrages that are still under the possession of different department of UP government.

The Alaknanda Hotel is located on a prime location in Haridwar and is very popular among pilgrims visiting the holy town.
