New Delhi, 8 August: The newly appointed chairperson of New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), Mr Jalaj Srivastava today inspected the ongoing redevelopment work in Connaught Place and asked Engineers India Limited to speed up the facelift work.
Mr Srivastava, who was accompanied among others by Secretary and Chief Engineers of NDMC, took a round of almost all the blocks and pointed out the areas needing improvement. Claiming that the civic body is keen on restoring CP&’s past glory, he has asked the appointed agencies to hasten up the pace of the redevelopment work to unveil the fully refurbished and revamped Connaught Place.
An NDMC official said, “He asked the EIL to appropriately design the roadside kiosks and finish the other pending projects in Connaught Place.”
He also had directed that service cables and utilities should be done rapidly. “After coming across many hanging electrical wires, he said they should not be visible in Connaught Place,” said the official.
Mr Srivastava also asked the authorities to finish the work on telecom lines soon. “Communication lines project is pending  as telecom companies have to approach NDMC to install cables underground,” the official added.                                    SNS
