Rupee slumped by 38 paise in the late morning trade on Friday and traded above the 67-level at 67.01 against the US Dollar.
Lower opening of domestic equity markets and strength in the American currency against other units overseas forced the domestic currency to trade in the negative zone.
On Thursday, the Rupee had closed 20 paise down at 66.63 against the US currency.

Meanwhile, the benchmark BSE Sensex was trading 391 points down at 27,127 at 11.45 am.
