A six-year-old minor was allegedly raped in Siliguri. She was later admitted to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH). Police have started an investigation to nab the accused person.
The accused person Kartik Lohar, a neighbour, took the girl away with him from her home while her mother was busy working in the kitchen on the night of 3 January.
“Kartik had come to our house and asked for drinking water I was in the kitchen and asked my daughter to give him a glass of water. After sometime, I found that both Kartik and my daughter were not present in the house. I rushed to the house of Kartik who was our neighbour. His mother told me that he had taken to my daughter to a sweet shop located nearby but I did not get them there. When I came to my house I found my daughter. I came to know that my daughter was sexually assaulted by Kartik yesterday. We immediately took her to the hospital and lodged an FIR with the police station against Kartik,” the mother said.
According to the sources, Kartik is an accused in many other cases.
The NBMCH medical superintendent, Dr Amerandranath Sarkar, said the girl was stable. “She is stable but she suffered serious injuries in her private parts. Necessary tests would be conducted tomorrow.Fingerprints were found even around her neck. We are monitoring her health condition," Dr Sarkar said.
The Darjeeling superintendent of police, Mr Kunal Agarwal, said police have started an investigation. “We have received the FIR and started an investigation. Police are trying to nab the culprit," he said.
