Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is scheduled to visit north Bengal from 29 January. Political observers said Mamata Banerjee will start her first round of campaigning ahead of the forthcoming parliament election just after the end of the Congress leader Rahul Gandhi-led Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, though she will attend her official programmes in Cooch Behar, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar, North Dinajpur, South Dinajpur and Malda. Official sources said CM Ms Banerjee will be arriving in Cooch Behar on 29 January for distribution of state government-sponsored schemes among the beneficiaries.

According to administrative officials, she will be arriving at Hasimara air base flight and will leave for Cooch Behar by helicopter. She will return to Uttarkanya in Siliguri by copter on 29 January. On 30 January, the chief minister will attend her official programme at a field close to the State Armed Police training campus at Fulbari-Dabgram in Jalpaiguri district.

The CM will distribute land rights, (patta), deeds for housing (Cha-Sundari) and financial assistance for housing projects among tea workers from Jalpaiguri and Alipurduar. Administration of both the districts has readied those schemes for 5,000 tea workers of each district, according to a senior administrative officer.

Ms Banerjee will leave for North Dinajpur district after attending her official programme. She will leave for Balurghat in South Dinajpur to attend a similar programme. She is scheduled to stay back in Balurghat and leave for Malda on 31 January. In Malda, chief minister Mamata Banerjee will attend a big state sponsored benefits distribution programme on 31 January and then leave for the Murshidabad area, officials said.
