The sweltering heat wave that has captured the entire South Dinajpur district, caused the death of a middle aged man here, according to locals.

The district administration and health department officials have however not confirmed excessive heat as the cause of the man&’s (identified as Sushil Mardi) death. “It is very tough to prove that the death was caused due to the excessive heat.

We are examining the situation closely,” said an official of the South Dinajpur health department. Block development officer, Banshihari block, Banamali Roy, said that the concerned department is eager to help the poor family.

Residents in and around are heavily troubled by the extreme hot weather, with a maximum temperatures hovering around 39 degrees Celsius on an average in the district.
