Enquiry counter damaged by passengers
Delay in a train’s departure allegedly led to vandalism of the enquiry counter of the South Eastern Railway at Howrah station today.
The passenger revenue of Eastern Railway for the month of January has been recorded as Rs 305.74 crore which is the highest for any January since the last seven years.
According to the Eastern Railway, the cumulative passenger revenue of Eastern Railway in the financial year 2023-24 up to the month of January was recorded as Rs 2975.96 crore in comparison to Rs 2709.42 crore earned in the corresponding period of 2022-23 thereby registering an increase of 9.84 per cent.
As informed by the zonal railway, the cumulative passenger traffic in Eastern Railway up to January in 2023-24 has been recorded as 952.946 million compared to 912.595 million in the corresponding period of 2022-23 thus registering a growth of 4.42 per cent this year.
