Four state-run hospitals including three premier medical colleges such as R G Kar, SSKM and Calcutta National Medical College (CNMC) allegedly denied admission to a 45 year-old patient Mr Bablu Sarkar, a resident of New Barrackpore.

Mr Sarkar sustained an injury on his head on Thursday. He was rushed to Barasat State General Hospital but was denied admission there. Then he was taken to another state hospital R G Kar Medical College where doctors reportedly referred the patient to SSKM.

But Sarkar’s plight continued when he was denied any berth at SSKM Hospital as well because of the nonavailability of indoor beds. Consequently, finding no other alternative, his relatives rushed him to CNMC on Thursday night.
