At least 30 houses were gutted and at least 200 people were rendered shelterless after a major fire broke out in Dahar village in Mandi district, police said on Monday.

However, there was no loss of life, they said.

Superintendent of Police (SP) Mandi Ashok Kumar said that rescue and relief parties have reached the village and tents are being provided for temporary shelters to the affected families.

Food and other essential commodities have also been dispatched, he added.

Tehsildar Anil Kumar, who reached the spot to assess the damage, said that the cause of the fire could not be ascertained.

All the 30 houses were gutted and at least 200 people were rendered shelterless, he said.
