Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad on Thursday said that the opposition was rallying behind the Centre in its efforts to fight terrorism perpetrated by Pakistan.

Speaking to the media after attending the all-party meet that was called by the government and chaired by Home Minister Rajnath Singh Azad assured that steps taken by the Narendra Modi government against terrorism will get the opposition’s support.

ldquo;We were briefed about the operation and we congratulate the Indian Army for successfully carrying out the strikes which have caused significant damage to terrorists across the LoC but there was no casualty on our siderdquo; Azad said.

ldquo;Whatever steps the government takes to fight terrorism the opposition will support themrdquo; he added.

Hours after the Indian Army carried out ldquo;surgical strikesrdquo; across the Line of Control LoC causing ldquo;significant casualtiesrdquo; to terrorists; an all-party meet was called by the Centre.

In a joint conference by the Defence Ministry and the External Affairs Ministry Director General Military Operations DGMO Lt Gen Ranbir Singh on Thursday said that quot;significant casualtiesquot; were caused as the Army conducted quot;surgical strikes last nightquot; across the LoC.
