Vacant posts: Chief minister Mr Naveen Patnaik directed the higher education department to begin the process to fill up nearly 800 vacant posts of lecturers in different government colleges across the state. “As per the direction of the CM, the appointments will be made within three months,” said a senior official.
Snakebite death: Two minor sisters died of snakebite  in village Panasaganda village under Rajkanika police jurisdiction, about 60 km from Kendrapara. The deceased siblings, according to police, are Pushpalata Sahu (12) and Subhasmita Sahu (7), students of nearby government-run primary school.
Wheat seized: Police and civil supply department officials seized about 500 bags of wheat from a go-down of a rice mill in Jharsuguda district on Sunday. The wheat had come from Delanga area in Puri district and was to reach RK Floor mills, informed an official. The driver has been detained and is being interrogated.
Vivekananda seminar: Central University of Odisha organised a national seminar on “Swami Vivekananda&’s concept of education’’ at Koraput on Saturday. Swami Nitya Yogananda of Ramakrishna Mission, Vishakhapatnam delivered the keynote address at the event which was conducted to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Vivekananda.
