“With the aim to prevent the water logging incidents in the ongoing monsoon season, NDMC has launched an intensive drive from 20th July to 22nd July to check and clean all the bell mouths alongside roads in its jurisdiction,” the civic body said.
The direction was issued by the LG following his inspection of some of the most severely affected drains and areas including Taimur Nagar, Barapulla Drain, ITPO, Tilak Bridge, Kushak Nallah, Golf Links and Bharti Nagar due to Friday’s heavy downpour.
During the conference, the mayor directed the officials to focus on major waterlogging points and vulnerable spots in all zones. Special attention should be given to the locations that are more susceptible to waterlogging, and a list of these locations should be provided to the mayor.
He visited Satya Marg, Chanakyapuri, Sarojini Nagar, Lodhi Colony, Golf Links, Khan Market, Janpath, Minto Road, and Bharti Nagar, where waterlogging issues have disrupted normal life.
After monitoring the situation this rainy season at Pareshnath Jain Temple, the civic body is to decide on further steps to be taken to prevent inundation of its premises.
De-silting work on the existing drainage system in the NDMC area has been completed.
According to weather forecast, Light intensity rain/drizzle would occur over and adjoining areas of Yamunanagar, Kurukshetra, Karnal, Rajaund.
A ramp will also be made available for pedestrians at the same time as the Rail Over Bridge's stairs. This will allow motorcyclists to use the overbridge as well. The goal for the upcoming financial year is to generate 1000 ROB-RUB.
