The Sealdah Division of the Eastern Railway has upgraded the Naihati Carriage and Wagon (C and W) depot which plays a crucial role in maintaining safety, reliability and efficiency of train operations of Sealdah division by ensuring faster wagon Routine Overhauling (ROH).
Aiming to decongest station premises, authorities of Sealdah Division are exploring options to ease out the visitors flow at Sealdah station with a new entry/exit gate coupled with a subway.
In an intensive drive against ticketless journeys, the Sealdah division of the Eastern Railway detected 1,830 cases across its stations on a single day.
Eastern Railway has mechanised its laundry operations at six locations: Tikiapara, Sealdah, Chitpur, Asansol, Malda, and Bhagalpur.
According to official sources, the division is in talks with a consultancy that is preparing a master plan or the detailed project report. While 17 stations of the division have been identified for improvement under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, Kolkata station being of them is being planned for a major revamp under the programme.
The announcement comes following an interaction campaign of the ER where passengers shared their views on announcements, delays in trains, illegal shops, problems due to unauthorized occupants.
The incident occurred during an argument with a coach attendant over a seat. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
The commercial services of the train will start from tomorrow.
