At the national level, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to police personnel across India. In a post on X, he said, “On Police Commemoration Day, we salute the courage of our police personnel and recall their supreme sacrifice in the line of duty. Their dedication keeps our nation and people safe.”
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh participated in the Police Commemoration Day programme at the National Police Memorial in Delhi on Tuesday.
“I salute the bravehearts of Jammu Kashmir Police. The nation will forever be indebted to the bravery, courage and supreme sacrifice of our police personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty,” said L-G Manoj Sinha.
The way people have come out against terrorists and expressed anger against the recent killings of civilians, gives us a hope that this evil will die soon and disappear from the society, he added.
The Union Home and Cooperation Minister, Amit Shah paid homage to the martyred soldiers, on the occasion of 'Police Commemoration Day,' on Friday at the National Police Memorial in New Delhi.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today paid homage to all those police personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty.
He said that this year, three brave police personnel of the state namely sub-inspector Ranbir Singh, Suresh Kumar and head constable Yashpal have also sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.
Of these 292 martyrs, the CRPF topped the list with 67 causalities. These include 40 personnel killed in the February 2019 Pulwama terror attack.
The memorial, erected on 6.12 acres of land in city's Chanakyapuri area, is built in the memory of 34,844 police personnel who have laid down their lives in the line of duty since 1947, with 424 losing their lives this year.
