On the occasion of the Police Commemoration Day on Tuesday, October 21, leaders from across the country paid heartfelt tributes to police personnel who have sacrificed their lives while serving the nation.
At the national level, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid rich tributes to police personnel across India. In a post on X, he said, “On Police Commemoration Day, we salute the courage of our police personnel and recall their supreme sacrifice in the line of duty. Their dedication keeps our nation and people safe.”

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also attended the main commemoration event at the National Police Memorial in Delhi. He praised the unity between the police and armed forces, saying both play a key role in protecting India’s security.
In Chhattisgarh, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai praised the courage and dedication of police forces in fighting Naxalism. He said, “Police Commemoration Day is being observed to mark the sacrifices made by police and security personnel on duty. The jawans ensure everyone’s safety while working in very tough conditions.”
Talking about the state’s fight against Maoist insurgency, Sai added, “Security personnel have shown great bravery. They have not only pushed the Naxals back but also helped bring development to the affected areas.”
In Arunachal Pradesh, Chief Minister Pema Khandu also honoured the police personnel who lost their lives while protecting the country. He wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “We pay heartfelt tributes to the brave men and women of our police forces who laid down their lives in service to the nation. Their courage and devotion represent the best of public service.”
Khandu also expressed gratitude to the families of the fallen officers, calling their support and sacrifice equally important.
In Maharashtra, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis paid homage to police personnel at a ceremony held at the Police Parade Ground in Naigaon, Mumbai. He saluted their courage and commitment to duty.
Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar attended a separate event at the Centre for Police Research in Pune, where he laid a wreath at the Police Memorial and said the sacrifices of the police force will always be remembered with pride and respect.
Police Commemoration Day is observed every year on October 21 to honour the police personnel who have laid down their lives in the line of duty. The day serves as a reminder of their bravery, sacrifice, and the crucial role they play in keeping the nation safe.
