Under the Chief Minister’s directions, regular reviews of the paddy procurement process are being conducted.
Officials here on Friday said that during this period, procurement will also take place in Unnao, Raebareli, and Lucknow districts.
The UP government had set a target of opening 4,000 procurement centres, of which 3,790 are already operational.
Paddy is being procured from farmers registered on the “Meri Fasal Mera Byora” portal. So far, paddy has been procured from 63,356 farmers registered on the portal in the state.
Meanwhile, Haryana Cooperation and Public Health & Engineering Minister Banwari Lal today said the state government will establish ethanol plants at an investment of Rs 2000 crore in all cooperative sugar mills.
Moreover, farmers who had previously registered for wheat and paddy procurement in the Kharif Marketing year 2023-24 do not need to re-register for paddy sale. They only need to update and lock their registration.
The CM also directed the officials to develop a standard operation procedure for tackling the situation in Mandis arising out of untimely rains.
Centre procured 695.67 Lakh Metric tonnes of Kharif in the financial year 2021-22 from 94.15 lakh farmers benefiting them with Rs 1,36,350.74 crore.
The decision was taken following reports from Punjab and Haryana that recent heavy downpours have delayed the maturity of paddy in the state.
