In the first such flare-up since the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019, tensions had escalated in the Valley and parts of the Jammu region a day earlier when groups of mourners allegedly engaged in violence, prompting police to fire teargas shells to disperse the crowds and restore order.
A four-day tri-service multi-domain exercise, organized under the aegis of Northern Command to sharpen India’s preparedness for future warfare, has recently concluded.
The exercise, designed to simulate an intense futuristic conflict scenario, concluded with valuable lessons, sharper responses, and new benchmarks in India’s readiness for next-generation warfare, the army spokesperson stated.
During the exercise, troops deployed in the forward areas practised situations like cyber intrusion, spectrum saturation, electronic jamming, spoofing, and cognitive attacks.
General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Northern Command Lt General Pratik Sharma also practiced yoga.
Udhampur is the headquarters of the strategic Northern Command of the Indian Army that guards the Line of Control (LOC) with Pakistan occupied Kashmir and the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China.
General Dwivedi chaired discussions aimed at further enhancing joint capabilities, attended by senior officers from the Indian Army, Indian Air Force, Indian Navy, and the ITBP.
Lt General MV Suchindra Kumar, Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Northern Command, felicitated officers and soldiers of the Indian Army with gallantry and distinguished service awards for their acts of bravery beyond the call of duty and distinguished service to the nation.
All three injured personnel have been evacuated to Command Hospital, Udhampur. A Court of Inquiry has been ordered. Further details are being ascertained.
