The CPI-M leader Sujan Chakraborty asked why is Roy still holding the PAC chairman’s post when his own party’s lawmakers are claiming that he lacks mental balance. “Is he kept in the position to help in financial corruption through certain exchanges?” he questioned.
The bench noted that there are so many cases where there is delay by the Speaker, and the court is often told to stay away and allow the Speaker to decide.
The bench said a petition filed for Roy's disqualification is pending before the Speaker for more than three months, the maximum period fixed in a judgement of the Supreme Court, for decision thereof.
"We want Roy to get disqualified as soon as possible. We will also mention in the petition to fix the deadline for fast redressal of the issue,” Adhikari said.
The court granted the bail to anticipatory bail plea with the condition that Roy will not enter Labhpur, Bolpur and Santiniketan police stations till further order and will surrender in four weeks and pray for permanent bail.
“None of the West Bengal, Kerala and Rajashthan governments can defy the Centre and refuse to implement CAA, National Population Register (NPR) and National Register of Citizens(NRC),” he said.
“The CAA is a central act which will be implemented across in West Bengal she could resist if she can”, he said.
“Miss Banerjee and her party Trinamul Congress have gone all out against the National Register of Citizens (NRC) and the CAB. But if they are asked to raise the issue in the Parliament they will leave the House,” said Mr Roy.
Roy said if the government version is to be accepted then why were the police not making any efforts to bring the so called land shark to book.
