NC’s fight in Anantnag is not against BJP since Mehbooba’s party no longer a friend: Omar
Omar was ostensibly referring to Mehbooba Mufti who has filed her nomination for the seat as PDP candidate against NC’s Gujjar spiritual leader Mian Altaf.
Omar was ostensibly referring to Mehbooba Mufti who has filed her nomination for the seat as PDP candidate against NC’s Gujjar spiritual leader Mian Altaf.
Mehbooba was taking part in a roadshow in south Kashmir’s Pahalgam area during her election campaign.
She said the PDP became the “biggest target” after the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019 and its leaders were either “lured or blackmailed” to break away from it
The NC had unilaterally announced that it would field its candidates on all the three seats and fielded Mian Altaf from Anantnag. The NC had left two seats in Jammu for the Congress as part of the INDIA bloc's seat-sharing agreement.
Mehbooba was responding to Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s statement wherein he said that the dynastic parties that did not let J&K develop should be wiped out in the Lok Sabha elections.
This was India’s seventh win in the seven matches played against Pakistan in the quadrennial event so far.
State spokesman of BJP, Brigadier Anil Gupta (Retired), said, “Omar and Mehbooba express happiness over the judgment. Every Indian wanted severest of punishment to the accused and justice to the victim. So the judgment is the victory of all Indians. True to their colours, both have begun playing politics with the judgment through barbs at those who supported the rape accused.”
It is worth mentioning that the BJP leadership had built the party’s Lok Sabha election campaign around the Pulwama issue and terrorism in Kashmir and Shah had, in his election rallies, spoken of iron fist action against terrorists and scrapping the controversial Articles 370 and 35A that “encourage” separatism in J&K.
Top BJP leaders are hopeful that the party would secure the magic figure of 44 to form the government.
Imran Khan had called Narendra Modi on Sunday to congratulate him on his re-election, said the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), adding that PM Modi thanked Khan and, at the same time, reiterated his suggestion of jointly fighting poverty in the two countries.
