Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti on Tuesday launched a fresh political outreach initiative, urging leaders across party lines to unite and seek a sustained dialogue with the Centre on the issue of restoration of statehood and other contentious matters concerning Jammu and Kashmir.
Questioning whether it was the change people of West Bengal voted for, she wrote: “The sad deteriorating law & order ever since BJP won the West Bengal elections is appalling to say the least.

After years away from the political spotlight of the House, PDP president Mehbooba Mufti visited the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly here on Monday and called for joint efforts by the government and opposition to restore the strength and dignity of the legislature.
The visits reflect the strong emotional and political resonance that developments in Iran have generated across parts of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
"Ironic that the day India joins G7 to protect free speech, an effective fact-checker like @zoo_bear is arrested on frivolous charges. Criminalising the truth was initiated right after illegal abrogation of Article 370 in J&K & the same model is now being enforced all over India," she tweeted.
Addressing media persons in Srinagar, the PDP leader said there was no greater example of political corruption in the history of the country than the way the BJP indulged in horse-trading in MP, Rajasthan, Goa, and Maharashtra.
Earlier in the day, Farooq Abdullah Monday called for a ban on 'The Kashmir Files', alleging that it has created an atmosphere of "hatred in the country".
