With the ATC's authorization, the aircraft made a safe landing at Kolkata Airport at 7:45 am, approximately half an hour after the takeoff. All the passengers on board were then deplaned safely.
The aircraft landed safely at the Kolkata Airport at 12:02 pm. Before the landing, the airport had made all the necessary arrangements.
CM Banerjee said, “Sourav is our Gourav (pride). He is being deprived. I request Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take care of it and do the needful so that he can contest ICC elections".
The airport authorities said that as per revised guidelines of West Bengal government, "only international passengers arriving by flights from UK to Kolkata Airport shall undergo 100% Covid test (90%RAT and 10% RT-PCR) on arrival. All other guidelines, however, remains the same, as per latest guidelines of the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare."
“The safety violations that have been flagged are not too serious in nature or something that indicates gross violations and poses a massive risk to flight safety. The concerns flagged by the DGCA have been noted and we have appealed against the decision. Presently, we cannot divulge much detail on the matter and are awaiting a response.”
An airport official confirmed that from 3rd January 2022, all passengers coming from other ‘non at risk’ countries by international flights to West Bengal will have to mandatorily undergo a test on arrival at their cost.
Airport authorities said that the normal RT-PCR test will now cost Rs 600 instead of Rs 700 and the rapid RT-PCR test will cost Rs 2,900 instead of Rs 3,600.
The airport authorities said that erratic climatic change has been reported all over the world due to global warming and this GRF methodology will improve runway condition reporting of the airport.
The Biman Bangladesh airlines shared that it resumed its flight services with India and would fly to cities Kolkata and Delhi. The airline further stated that in the Kolkata-Dhaka route, from 7 September, two flights will be available in a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays while from 8 September in the Dhaka-Delhi route, flights will be available on Sundays and Wednesdays.
