The sacred Kailash Mansarovar Yatra through the Nathu La route in Sikkim is set to resume, with the first batch of 50 pilgrims scheduled to arrive in Gangtok on 15 June.
The Ministry of External Affairs Saturday announced that the Kailash Manasarovar Yatra for the current year will commence between June and August.
'With the completion of this road link, the yatra could be completed in one week compared to 2-3 weeks it took earlier,' he said.
The Ministry of External Affairs organises the yatra from June-September each year through two different routes, Lipulekh Pass (Uttarakhand) and Nathu La Pass (Sikkim).
Addressing a gathering on the occasion, he thanked China for promoting people to people exchange through its support of this yatra.
From Gangtok, the route passes through scenic places like Hangu Lake and the vast landscape of the Tibetan plateau.
The party also said it is tragic that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is insulting the "abode of Lord Shiva and Maa Parvati".
