As uncertainty continues over the selection of Kerala’s next Chief Minister, the Congress high command has summoned all former Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) presidents to New Delhi for consultations.
Congress MP K. Sudhakaran dismissed rumours of him contesting as an independent candidate from Kannur, declaring that he plans to remain within the party and move forward with new initiatives and activities under its banner.
Both AICC and state Congress leadership have decided to remain silent on the comments made by K Sudhakaran publicly against his removal from the post of KPCC president.
The KPCC chief also dismissed reports about his health issues. “I am not suffering from any ailment,” he said, and accused the media of spreading false information about leadership change and his health condition.
He added that political murders in the state would end the day the CPI-M rejects the politics of murder.
In a big relief to Congress Kerala chief K Sudhakaran, the Kerala High Court on Tuesday acquitted him of conspiracy charges in the 1995 EP Jayarajan murder attempt case.
A section of senior Congress leaders, who backed Sudhakaran, conveyed the national leadership that if there is further dilly-dallying on Sudhakaran's return as the party chief, it would send a wrong message.
The Congress high command has reportedly given him the nod to take over the post.
K Sudhakaran alleged that the BJP is shielding the Kerala chief minister against investigation into the alleged payment to his daughter’s firm.
It was Sudhakaran himself who revealed about the Vigilance probe against him, while speaking to media persons in New Delhi.
