"Jai Ram Thakur neglected Hamirpur district, despite having two MLAs from the area, none were included in the Cabinet during his tenure", he said.
Former chief minister and leader of the Opposition Jai Ram Thakur launched a scathing attack on the Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu-led Congress government in Himachal Pradesh, accusing it of silencing every voice of dissent misusing power theough police action.
He said on Saturday that the Chandigarh–Manali highway is closed at several locations, while the entire Kullu district is badly affected. Bilaspur has also suffered heavy losses.
The delegation was led by BJP national president and Union Health and Chemicals Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda and included prominent BJP leaders from the state.
Jairam Thakur questioned the logic behind Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s visit to the disaster-hit areas nine days after the incident and announcing only one crore rupees for relief.
He said that certain parts of Mandi district—particularly the constituencies of Nachan, Seraj, Dharampur, and Karsog—have witnessed unprecedented damage, and only targeted, localized projects can effectively support their recovery.
He alleged that the government is neither working in the interest of the people nor allowing those who want to contribute to do so.
Thakur alleged that the Congress-led government in Himachal Pradesh is involved in corruption and used Negi’s death to divert attention from its own wrongdoings.
Thakur highlighted the government's swift action, including high-level meetings in Delhi, signalling that a major decision is imminent.
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu responded to Thakur's allegations, saying that the reduction in the state's budget size is due to the decrease in the Revenue Deficit Grant (RDG) received from the Central government.
