The Election Commission of India has issued fresh orders changing the ongoing Special Intensive Revision schedule for voter registries in Punjab.

The Election Commission of India on Friday organised its second one-day conference for Media and Communication Officers, with Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and Election Commissioner Vivek Joshi calling for proactive efforts to counter misinformation, deepfakes and false narratives while strengthening public confidence in the country's electoral process.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Thursday sought responses from rival factions of the All India Trinamool Congress regarding competing claims about the party's organisational elections and authorised signatories, signalling the poll body's intervention in the internal dispute.
As per ECI officials, the SIR found 31.51 lakh voters absent or shifted from their previous addresses.
A senior party leader said here on Tuesday that this is the best time for the BJP leaders to involve themselves in the SIR process so that they can win the polls without any hassles for the next two decades.
The state government's contention was that since the SIR is being conducted by the Election Commission of India (ECI) and the government has no control over it; the demand cannot be accepted,
The discussions centered on shared democratic values and the exchange of best practices in election management.
Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs) and District Electoral Officers (DEOs) will provide hard copies of these draft rolls to all recognized political parties. Additionally, the draft rolls will be made accessible to the public through the official websites of the CEOs and DEOs.
