Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sukhchain Singh Gill said 9.76 kilogram (kg) heroin, 8.68 kg opium, 11.56 kg Ganja, nine quintals of poppy husk, and 49,000 pharma opioids have been recovered along with Rs 40.50 lakh drug money during the period.
Jagtar Singh, resident of Pakhopur in Taran Taran of Punjab, the accomplice of the deceased, was immediately nabbed and after a thorough search of his vehicle, heroin approximately 250 gm was found along with huge cash amounting to Rs 1,91,34030 was recovered.
"If one state police take strict action against drug peddlers and those involved in illegal drug trafficking, then these drug dealers and peddlers shift to neighbouring states. The network of drug dealers is spread all over the country. This problem can be curbed if the law enforcement agencies of different states work untidily with mutual coordination,” the chief minister said.
Yadav said in an intelligence-led operation, the police team of State Special Operation Cell Amritsar has arrested Rajbir from Amritsar city area.
Giving details about the case, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Ropar Range Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, on Saturday, said the main supplier of the drugs identified as Ashish Vishkarma, a resident of Khalasi Line near ITC in Saharanpur, has also been arrested.
