In a letter addressed to the Delhi Lieutenant Governor, Chief Minister, Transport Minister and Police Commissioner, the union stated that taxi and auto fares in Delhi-NCR had not seen any meaningful revision for nearly 15 years despite sharp increases in fuel costs and inflation.
The Transport Minister reviewed the preliminary findings from the incidents and instructed officials to implement enhanced safety protocols without delay.
He said that bus services must be planned and streamlined so that passengers can travel comfortably and on time with reduced overcrowding.
The meeting focused on key issues such as delays in vehicle registration, non-compliance at multi-brand outlets, and backlogs in High-Security Registration Plate (HSRP) requests.
Addressing a press conference, Gahlot said that the duty hours for government bus drivers will now be determined according to their Aadhaar cards, and no driver will be allowed to work double shifts.
He pointed out that once an application is cleared, an electric vehicle charge would be installed within seven days.
Delhi is the first state in the country to work so efficiently on the EV policy, which will boost the sale of EVs besides curbing pollution.
Speaking at the flagging off ceremony, Gahlot said, "Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, since March 2020, the Delhi government has launched 452 BS-VI compliant buses, including 32 that are being dedicated to the people of Delhi today. Equipped with world-class latest technology, special care has been taken for the comfort, convenience and safety of the passengers in all these buses."
