DDMA likely to reimpose Rs 500 fine for not wearing mask in Delhi

The decisions were taken in the 34th meeting of DDMA to review the COVID-19 situation in Delhi.
Other institutes like Jamia Millia Islamia have however said that they would wait for UGC guidelines and then decide on reopening.
The DDMA had ordered closure of the schools of 28 December last year soon after these institutions were reopened briefly.
According to sources, it was also decided that bars and restaurants would function with their 50 percent seating capacity. The number of guests at marriage functions has been capped at 200.
Marriage-related gatherings are permitted with a maximum of 200 people in attendance.
The Omicron infection tally has climbed to 358 across the nation. However, out of total Omicron positive, 114 have been discharged. So far 17 states have reported Omicron infection.
The permission allowed has a rider that there must be strict compliance of Covid-19 safety guidelines.
Amid the rise in coronavirus cases and the threat of its Omicron variant, the DDMA also directed district magistrates to ensure no Christmas and New Year gathering takes place in the national capital.
In an order issued on Wednesday, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) asked all the District Magistrates and the DCPs to ensure that no such event and gathering takes place in the areas under their jurisdiction.
