In view of the recent surge in Covid-19 cases in various parts of the country, the Haryana Health Department is closely monitoring the situation and is taking all necessary steps to ensure public safety and preparedness.
The Union Health Ministry on Monday said that the COVID-19 situation in India remains under control as of May 19, despite a recent uptick in active cases, which have risen to 257 nationwide.
A high-level meeting chaired by the principal secretary to the prime minister discussed preparedness of health infrastructure and logistics, drugs, the vaccination campaign and steps required to deal with the problem.
Sources said there are currently 10 different variants of Covid-19 in the country, with the latest being BF.7.
The final call about the reopening of the schools will be taken after the festive season. Ramlila and other festive gatherings are around the corner and will only be allowed after Covid-19 restrictions.
The chief secretary ordered that a detailed review was done of the existing Covid-19 situation on the basis of which it was decided to continue the restrictions.
A statement added that a number of cases imported from Britain involving variants have also been detected in Hong Kong
Health screening has been stepped up in both the panchayats. If the infections do not subside, the panchayats will be placed under micro containment restriction, he said.
Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister urged everyone to ensure full commitment to fight the pandemic.
They also informed about the efforts being undertaken to augment the medical infrastructure and capacity building in rural areas.
