Brennan has delivered dozens of presentations for many prestigious companies, including Google, Tencent, Walmart, Visa, LinkedIn, Boston Consulting Group and more. Originally from London, he speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese having been based in mainland China for sixteen years.
The ministry had temporarily banned 59 Chinese apps including Baidu, TikTok, UC Browser, WeChat among others, citing security of the state and public order as its reason.
The company also revealed plans to provide a secure and healthy gameplay environment alongside investments to cultivate local video game, esports, entertainment, and IT industries.
The list of banned apps also includes Baidu, Alipay and ShareSave by Xiaomi.
In an earlier order issued on August 7, Trump prohibited the China-based company from doing business with US firms after 45 days.
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology has written to all the companies concerned and said that making the apps available, directly or indirectly, would violate IT Act and other laws.
He further said that he is confident that the world's free nations will join together to face the challenges from China to India and other countries in Asia.
This comes days after Pompeo lauded India’s 'clean app approach' saying New Delhi’s decision to ban 59 Chinese apps will 'boost the country's sovereignty and boost integrity and national security'.
Meanwhile, the IT minister had on Wednesday, giving a clear signal for greater support to startups working towards enriching the digital universe, said that while Indians download a lot of apps from Google Play Store and Apple App Store, it is time to upload some.
Like Google, Apple too has pulled down several similar applications from its App Store such as Club Factory, Shein, Bigo Live, Meitu and others.
