The Maharashtra State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) will register a case under appropriate legal provisions if it is established that the late Ajit Pawar was assassinated, CID Additional Director General of Police Sunil Ramanand said at a press conference here today.
A Bench comprising Justice M.M. Sundresh and Justice N Kotiswar Singh made the observation during the hearing of the CBI’s appeal against a Jharkhand High Court order that had suspended Yadav’s sentence and granted him bail in connection with fraudulent withdrawals from the Deoghar treasury.
After registering the 22 cases following directions to this effect from the Supreme Court, the investigation agency also carried out raids at 47 locations across the National Capital Region.
The CBI filed the chargesheet in October last year, against former Bihar chief ministers Lalu Prasad, Rabri Devi, their daughter Misa Bharti and 13 others in the land-for-jobs scam.
In its second supplementary charge sheet filed in connection with the Delhi Excise Policy scam, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has alleged irregularities in the Group of Ministers (GoM) meetings, saying no records were maintained and that the Excise Commissioner was never invited.

The CBI team, this morning, has collected the case records from the Mumbai Police including the postmortem report.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is probing the alleged Rs 15 crore misappropriation of money angle in the case. In this regards, it has summoned Rhea Chakraborty for questioning.
The reason for recent slump in progress of investigation into these two scams, was attributed to dearth of manpower and recent rejig in the ranks of officers concerned, who the source claimed had either been shifted out or removed.
