CBI probing  ‘political’ links’ in Birbhum violence

As the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team probing the Birbhum violence case made further progress on Sunday by arresting another accused, the officials are trying to trace the "higher-level political and administrative links" of the accused as well as the victims. This is the fifth arrest by the CBI in this case.

The person of Kogram in Nalhati, Alauddin Sheikh, who has identified all the eight dead bodies the next day at the Rampurhat hospital has also been grilled and statements recorded.

After CBI summons, Anubrata in hospital

On 2 May last year, Gourav Sarkar was killed. Though in the initial FIR, Anubrata Mondal has not been named, the CBI has called him at the Illambazar camp office on Friday afternoon. Anubrata Mondal did not appear before CBI twice and has already moved to Calcutta High Court fearing arrest by the central agency.
