The Supreme Court on Friday issued a notice on a plea filed by Shiromani Akali Dal leader and former Punjab minister Bikram Singh Majithia, challenging the Punjab and Haryana High Court’s refusal to grant him regular bail in a corruption case alleging possession of disproportionate assets.
During the hearing of the bail plea, Padmakumar’s counsel argued that his custody was no longer required in the investigation and that the decision to allow moving the gold-plated sheets outside for maintenance was a collective decision taken by the board.
Jaiswal, who is on the run, had moved a petition for anticipatory bail.
In an affidavit, the police described the riots as a “deep-rooted, premeditated, and orchestrated conspiracy,” asserting that they were timed to coincide with the visit of the then US President Donald Trump to India.
