Under the revamped phase, over 38 lakh families across Assam will now receive Rs 1,250 per month, with an additional Rs 250 earmarked for LPG cylinder purchases, taking the monthly support to Rs 1,500 for each beneficiary household.
In addition, Hindustan Unilever Limited extended support of Rs 50 lakh through its Senior Manager, Legal and Corporate Affairs, and Lead India Growth, Rahul Bagga. State Transport Director Baldev Thakur also presented a cheque of Rs. 1 lakh to the Chief Minister.
The celebrations opened at the Dr Bhupen Hazarika Samannay Kshetra in Guwahati, where the maestro was cremated in November 2011.
“This is a religious and politically neutral scheme. Licences will be given to people of all communities who are indigenous or original inhabitants, and whose three generations have lived in that area,” Sarma said.
The newly created co-districts are Boko–Chhaygaon and Palashbari (Kamrup), Borsola and Rangapara (Sonitpur), Mariani and Teok (Jorhat), Makum and Digboi (Tinsukia), Dholai (Cachar), and Dudhnoi (Goalpara). Eight of them will be inaugurated on Tuesday, followed by the remaining two on Wednesday.
