Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar on Monday informed the Parliament that the Centre was promoting holistic development of horticulture through regionally differentiated programmes like the Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture.
Sudhakar Singh earlier pointed out corruption in the agriculture department. He publicly said that the corruption was taking place from lower to the higher level officers. "All of them are thieves," he had said.
The minister said a nodal officer should be appointed to monitor the fodder coming from other states.
Dalal urged the farmers to use organic DAP fertiliser and said that the farmers will get fair prices of crops and vegetables sown using organic DAP fertiliser.
India is also assisting third-world countries by giving technical and scientific assistance to increase productivity in their countries to ensure global food security, the Minister said in his UN address.
He directed the department to make timely arrangements for wheat procurement and also to provide basic facilities at the procurement centers so that the farmers visiting the center do not face any kind of inconvenience.
'We urge the youth of Punjab to prepare for a long haul. We will take out a big procession on Republic Day,' he said.
Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar and Union Minister Piyush Goyal were leading today's talks.
The 2-hour long meeting comes after the reports said that agitating farmers are planning to block five entry points to Delhi.
