Amid a fresh surge in COVID-19 cases across the country, Delhi on Monday reported the death of a 22-year-old woman — the city’s third fatality linked to the virus in recent weeks.
The country recorded 6,155 fresh Covid-19 infections in the last 24 hours, marking a marginal increase from Friday's tally of 6,050 cases, the Union health ministry stated in a bulletin on Saturday.
With the addition of new deaths due to the COVID-19, the total number of fatalities due to the coronavirus now stands at 5,30,509 in the country.
With this, India’s active caseload now stands at 50,594 with active cases now constituting 0.11% of the country’s total positive cases.
As per the data shared by the ministry, India’s recovery rate stands at 98.60% with 13,084 patients having recovered in the last 24 hours taking the cumulative tally of recovered patients to 4,37,57,385.
Apart from declining cases, the country also witnessed a downfall in number of deaths with around 275 fatalities reported from 307 reported last week.
According to the data released by the state health department, the state recorded 24,287 fresh cases on Sunday taking the total number of active cases to 78,111 - the second highest in the country after Maharashtra that recorded 2,05,973 active cases.
The number of people vaccinated during the past 24 hours was 1,72,848 and 68,781 of them were those who got their first vaccine dose.
The State’s recovery rate currently stands at 98.61% while active cases account for 0.57% of total positive cases registered in the State.
