Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan, who has been retained by David Warner-led Sunrisers Hyderabad for the eleventh edition of Indian Premier League, believes that IPL can be the platform for youngsters to get noticed and make it the Indian national team.

However, Dhawan was quick to warn the young players that their focus should be on performing rather than on India selection.

“IPL is a platform for players to get noticed and maybe make it to the Indian team but the focus should be on performance rather than thinking about India selection,” Dhawan told reporters on the sidelines of a promotional event.

“IPL is going to be exciting. It’s a fresh season and we have so many new faces and the team looks good. Hopefully, I will be fresh and fit to perform,” Dhawan said.
