Reiterating the state government’s commitment to the development of all sections of the people, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, on Saturday, approved a proposal for the constitution of ‘Rajasthan State Gadiya Lohar Welfare Board’.

The proposed board aims to provide basic facilities to Gadiya Lohar Samaj (a nomadic community) and to eliminate their backwardness.

Outlining the jurisdiction of the board, the chief minister said various schemes have been proposed for the development and welfare of Gadia Lohar community in coordination with various other departments for providing permanent residence and various welfare schemes conducted for the community to connect with the mainstream society.

Along with this, changes in the traditional business methods of Gadia Lohar Samaj according to the current requirements, along with promotion of economic upgradation and employment, as well as giving suggestions to the government to promote education in the community, will be done by the board.

This board will comprise a total of seven members, including a chairman, a vice-chairman and five members. A social justice and empowerment department will be its administrative body.
