2 nabbed for extortion, promise for govt job
Two individuals were arrested on charges of extortion for promising jobs in the state food and supplies department.
Day after a 34-year-old woman was shot dead in New Delhi, police on Thursday arrested her restaurateur husband, Pankaj Mehra, in connection with the murder.
According to media reports, Mehra has confessed to his involvement in the murder during his interrogation.
Police said Mehra allegedly hatched a plan to kill his wife and put the blame on his moneylender, whom he owed Rs 5 lakh. Mehra had reportedly married another woman and was not getting along well with Priya, according to media reports.

Pankaj Mehra used to run a bar at Paharganj and was allegedly receiving threats from his moneylender. The bar was shut a month ago after incurring losses.
On Wednesday, Priya Mehra was shot in her face and head. Her husband, Pankaj Mehra, and one-year-old son were in the car with her at the time of the shooting.
Earlier, Pankaj had told the police they were returning to their home in Rohini from Bangla Sahib Gurudwara, when the killers in another car overtook their car and blocked its way.
Pankaj had claimed that one of the assailants broke the window glass of the driver’s seat with a revolver and ordered him to step out, but he resisted. The gangster opened the fire, but the bullet missed Mehra and hit his wife. The killer fired once more and again the bullet hit her, after that the gun got stuck.
In the ensuing struggle, Pankaj managed to escape the area. As he drove, he called the police to say he was headed to the Saroj Hospital at Madhuban Chowk.
Injured Priya later died at the hospital.
