Washington, 14 Sept: The meeting between Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and President Barack Obama at the White House later this month would primarily focus on economic issues, a senior US administration official has said.
“I think this will be a visit that is very focussed on economic issues, what the USA and India can do together to generate economic growth,” the official said yesterday, at a media briefing.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to visit Washington for a day on 27 September for a meeting with President Obama at the White House and the logistics are still being worked out.
The meeting, according to the source, “will highlight India’s role in regional security and stability and provide an opportunity” for the two leaders to chart a course toward enhanced trade, investment, and development cooperation between the two countries. pti
