After embarrassing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) by abstaining from the no-confidence motion debate in Parliament on Friday, Shiv Sena was all praise for Congress chief Rahul Gandhi.

Following Gandhi’s speech in the Lok Sabha, the warring NDA ally said the Congress chief had now “graduated from the real school of politics”.

Shiv Sena MPs had decided not to attend the Lok Sabha on Friday where a debate and voting on a no-confidence motion against the government was taken up.

“The Congress chief has now graduated from the real school of politics,” party leader Sanjay Raut said.

Raut said that Rahul Gandhi’s hug at the end of his speech was a shocker for PM Modi and the BJP.

“This wasn’t a hug, but a shock to Modi,” Raut said, adding that there would be more “tremors” like today for the BJP.

Previously, on Friday, the NDA ally had slammed the Narendra Modi government saying that those ruling the country are “butchers, who save animals but kill humans”.

Earlier on Thursday, Shiv Sena had issued a whip to its MPs to be present and vote in favour of the government.

However, a Sena source said that there was a “mistake” in issuing the whip.

“There was a mistake. No such whip could be issued by the chief whip when a decision (on no-trust motion) was not even taken then,” it said.

In a strongly worded speech, Rahul Gandhi tore into the ruling government for ignoring the plight of farmers and youth. He had also accused the prime minister of shielding the corrupt and colluding with rich businessmen.
