Former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Yadav – who is serving 14 year jail sentence in Ranchi after being convicted in multiple fodder scam-related cases – had arrived in Patna on Friday to attend his son Tej Pratap Yadav’s wedding, which is scheduled for Saturday.

Earlier, Lalu Yadav was granted three-day parole to attend his son’s marriage though he had sought a five-day parole. Lalu had reached Patna late Thursday night.

Tej Pratap Yadav and Aishwarya Rai had exchanged rings in the presence of family and friends in the absence of Lalu Prasad. The couple had got engaged in a ceremony at Hotel Maurya in Patna on 18 April.

Tej Pratap’s fiancee Aishwarya Rai is the daughter of Chandrika Rai, a former minister in Bihar government. Aishwarya has completed her schooling from Bihar and higher education from Delhi.

After the engagement, Tej Paratap reacting to his father Lalu Prasad Yadav’s absence, had tweeted: “Miss you Papa.”

Lalu Prasad is undergoing treatment at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) hospital at Ranchi after being shifted from New Delhi’s AIIMS on 1 May.
