India on Saturday lodged a strong protest with Pakistan over the continuing incidents of ceasefire violations at the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border (IB), particularly the killing of an Indian soldier in unprovoked firing by the Pakistani forces on 9 March.

Deputy High Commissioner of Pakistan Syed Haider Shah was summoned to the MEA this evening and conveyed New Delhi’s grave concern and its expectation that Pakistan would not take any step detrimental to peace along the LoC and IB and to the security of India.
