Chief Ministers of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ruled states seem to be invoking mythology on a regular basis to put their point across these days. Two weeks after Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb claimed that Internet and sophisticated satellite communication system existed in the days of Mahabharata, Gujarat’s Chief Minister Vijay Rupani on Sunday drew comparisons between internet search engine Google and mythological character Narad Muni.

Narada is a Vedic sage, who appeared in Mahabharata and the Ramayana. He used to carry news and wisdom from around the universe. He is considered to be the ‘first journalist’ on earth.

While speaking at an event organised by Vishwa Samvad Kendra, which is the media wing of the RSS, Rupani said that Google is the source of information just like Narad, because he knew everything happening in the world.

“This is relevant in today’s time that Narad was a man of information, who had information of the whole world. Collecting information was his dharma for the betterment of the humankind, and it is very much required,” said Vijay Rupani as per a The Indian Express news report.
