The probe agency has been conducting raids across the country on businesses owned by Modi ever since Punjab National Bank (PNB) filed a complaint against him in the scam worth Rs 11,300 crore.

On Thursday, the ED seized a fleet of luxury cars belonging to Modi and his group companies during their search in 17 locations in Mumbai.

The cars include one Rolls Royce Ghost, two Mercedes Benz GL series, one Porsche Panamera, three Hondas, one Toyota Fortuner and Innova.

Mutual funds and shares worth Rs 7.80 crore of Nirav Modi and Rs 86.72 crore belonging to his uncle Mehul Chokshi of the Gitanjali Group were frozen, too.

On the same day, an ED team raided a showroom of Geetanjali Gems and Jewellery at Suhatta Shopping Mall in Durgapur in West Bengal.

The agency has also carried out searches at four firms in Mumbai. It is probing 120 companies on suspicion of being shell firms linked to Modi and Choksi.

ED is investigating 79 shell companies owned by the Gitanjali chief and 41 owned by Modi in India. The agency has issued a fresh summon to both Modi and Choksi asking them to appear on 26 February.

In response to previous summons, Modi had reportedly said on Thursday that he won’t be able to appear before ED because his passport has been temporarily suspended.
